HELPING HUNDREDS OF STUDENTS SUCCEED IN SCHOOL SINCE 2019
The Progreso Apoyo Program is a non-profit organization that provides support for students living in the greater Progreso area.

Public schools in Mexico are tuition-free, but families must still cover costs like books and uniforms. For some, those expenses may be too much and a child’s education is cut short. We help qualifying families so kids can remain in school.
Generous contributions from residents and visitors help our students finish middle school (grades 7 – 9), graduate from high school (grades 10 – 12) and prepare for a career through study at a university or technical college.

Our Mission
Remove barriers for children and young adults so they can remain in school.
Our Vision
Successful students who are ready to access future opportunities.
BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER
The heart of the Progreso Apoyo Program are our sponsors – individuals from around the world who provide financial support to help our students stay in school.
Our activities are governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who are passionate about education:
Speranza Avram, President
Dale Hunter-Aubichon, Vice-Pesident/Secretary
Beatriz Vallejo Parker, Treasurer
Jana Erickson, Communications Director
Debbie Ritchie, English Academy Director
Other volunteers help us teach English in-person and online, and support our annual Home Tour. Staff support is provided by Linda Trujillo, our bilingual Program Assistant.
We give special acknowledgement to Kitty Morgan, the founder of the original Progreso Apoyo Program, who pioneered the concept of sponsors supporting the education of local children more than 25 years ago.
